First International Workshop
on the Web of Things (WoT 2010)
@ PerCom 2010

After WoT 2010 comes WoT 2011!

WoT 2010 is now over, it was great and we look forward to WoT 2011, meanwhile you can find a summary here and the slides and presentations here. Meanwhile you should consider submitting to and attending WoT 2011!

Welcome to WoT 2010 !

The WoT workshop aims at extending the Internet of Things to the Web of Things, which is a step further from establishing mere connectivity between things and the Web (e.g. sensor/actuator networks, embedded devices, mobile phones, consumer electronics, RFID enhanced objects, etc.). We encourage participants to explore and discuss specific issues of the Web of Things such as loose coupling, massive scalability, interoperability, composition, heterogeneity, and discovery in the context of pervasive computing. Furthermore, we encourage applications and prototypes based on Web paradigms and technologies to integrate everyday things and embedded devices towards a World Wide Web of Things.

The goal of this workshop is to explore novel types pervasive computing applications, where no homogeneous devices and no centrally managed infrastructure is available. Using a Web-based approach new constraints and design issues must be considered. While certain application scenarios might not map well to Web concepts, the opportunities and economies of scale available on the Web makes it very interesting to create the “Web of Things”.
