We have been last Friday at the 20th anniversary of the Web at CERN. Was a cool, kind of VIPish party with most of the guys who built the WWW in the early 90’s. As researchers we got to attend a number of computer science and in particular Web conferences. The International Conference on Web Engineering (ICWE for the insiders!) was one we particularly enjoyed attending thanks to the quality of papers, talks and networking opportunities for all things Web. eBay’s IoT Collections: Smart Fussball Table

It’s time again for an eBay Internet of Things Collection recipe. This time we’ll be looking at a nice challenge we tackled at the last Web of Things Hackathon – the Smart Fussball Table! This yearly hackathon (stay tuned for the next one – advertised soon) is always focusing on a challenge that involves real world objects and their connectivity not only to the the Internet but also to the Web. In short it is always about having things talking to each other and humans based on Web protocols and tools.

Established in 2007, the Web of Things is a community of developers, researchers, and designers exploring the future of the physical Web. We want to leverage Web standards to interconnect all types of embedded devices and tagged products to make them easier to use and integrate in classic Web applications. WoT aims to build a future Web of devices that is truly open, flexible, and scalable, and we believe Web standards are the best way to do it.
